Valentine’s Day Durex Style

If you are a Mauritian and you travel through Port Louis everyday, you might have come across this ad:

When I saw this at first, I did not really understand what that heart meant. When you look at it closely you will then find out the real meaning of this poster. Obviously it is a condom ad.

Well for adults it might seem very funny, or obvious. For the current generations as well maybe. However personally I don’t really find it a nice way to promote one’s product. Especially when there are even kids who are travelling via those routes and see that ad. What impression does it give them about Valentine’s Day?

So is this really how we celebrate Valentine’s Day? A one night stand and forget it the next day? Is it all about that “half heart”? I do ask myself what is the relation between that image and Valentine’s Day.

Small update:
The way people have put Valentine’s Day today, it has become all commercial. Many people out there use roses and gifts to lure girls not for true love, just to have a nice time. Not everyone of course, but there are. I do not believe in Valentine’s Day in that way, because there is no specific day we fall in love (true real love). There is no specific day to care about the one we love.

I do not say that the ad is very bad, actually it is a nice idea to attract the attention of people. However, it would be nice if it was restricted to adult magazines and not displayed in big pictures for everyone to view especially not for innocent kids who have the tendency to observe a lot and ask questions.

With this I wish everyone a very Happy Valentine’s Day, with or without Durex. :)

    At no time, they mentioned one night stand. Using Durex or any other brand is a matter of "taste" and also, safe sex. And finally, durex is not only condoms… *cough* *cough*

    Yeah directly it is not. But in no way I understand how to relate this to valentine's day. :/
    Especially that heart which is partly cut off… :p
    Let's be real. Today tell me there is no such thing as a one night stand. Tell me everyone goes to the disco, pubs to find a life partner forever and ever :)

    whats wrong with youngsters asking questions ? and observing things? I used to ask 1000 questions per day as a child. as far as im concerned i dont do drugs and I am not a sex offender..on the other hands some persons that i know and who used to be enclosed in a mindset or cocoon in mauritius went wrong once outside that over conservative. and on the other hand once again I am very sorry mate but ure reasoning and judgement is flawed as there is once more no hint or clue about the commercial side of st valentines or luring people just for a good time n this ad. if u know people who use valentine's day to lure girls or even boys into "good times" then im sorry for u mate, time to change surroundings.
    and BY THE WAY how is one night stand "not so nice". if a perfectly consenting couple decide to have a night of hot sex with no strings attached today… so what??? u get married with everyone u have sex with?? sex is a need, a want… makes u feel good. seriously i dont know how u come to theses conclusions … I dont mean to offend by the way mate. also on st valentines day, u celebrate love, and u have sex as sex is an expression of love,want it or not : / and u still dont see how the leader in contraceptive products in the world (along with other bedtime accessories) is related to a day where love is celebrated? mate..i agree with the fact that it depends how u see things but sometimes no matter how u look at it u must call a fork a fork.

      I talked about young innocent kids, not youngsters.
      As I said, every one has his or her own opinion, you have yours, I have mine, you are happy with yours and I am happy with mine. :)
      And I know what i have said in my post. I was already prepared for such kind of reactions. There are some who will understand my point of view, others will not. Those who don't, be happy and satisfied with your own point of views. Don't worry about mine :)
