My Thoughts, My Life, My Philosophies

Shiva Trilogy, By Amish Tripathi

For around 10 years, I have not been much of a keen reader. The moment I got my computer at the age of 13, most of my time was spent on it. Playing games, trying to upgrade it. I did not really took time to read any books. I was also not really interested in books.

The Immortals of MeluhaA few months ago, I was browsing the web for the word “Somras”. I came across the title “The Immortals of Meluha”. That title really intrigued me. At first I thought it was a movie. So I got curious and wanted to see if I can get the movie. After some research, I realized that it was not a movie, actually it was a book.

As soon as I saw its cover, I got strangely interested to know more about it. After reading the summary and a few reviews, I headed to ebay and looked for the book to purchase online.

The Secret of the Nagas

Before I continue further let me talk a bit about the book itself. The Immortals of Meluha is the first book of the Shiva Trilogy series from the author, Amish Tripathi. Shiva Trilogy consists of three books :

  1. The Immortals of Meluha
  2. The Secret of the Nagas
  3. The Oath of the Vayuputras

The Immortals of Meluha and The Secret of the Nagas have already been published and are available on ebay. I have read both books and I really loved it. What really fascinates me about the book is the mixture of fiction along with scientific explanation, archaeological facts, philosophy, emotions, romance, suspense, thriller and also a few bits which make you smile and laugh. The book feels complete in all these aspects. The ending of both books ends in a suspense that makes you thirst for the next book. The detail in which the story is narrated seems as if the author Amish has lived in the story, having included a lot of logical scientific explanations, the different philosophies involved and the use of archaeological facts make the story appear real.

The Oath of the Vayuputras is the third and final book of the Shiva Trilogy and is expected to be released during the month of March 2013.

Vayuputras

I have also heard that the famous Bollywood director Karan Johar plans to make a movie based on the first book of the Shiva Trilogy, The Immortals of Meluha.

Personally I think that this movie if well made will be a great success not only in India but at international level. I would love to participate in the making of this movie. However a movie just on the first book won’t be enough, so I guess if the first movie is a success there will definitely be sequels to complete the Shiva Trilogy.

Amish has a really great imagination and is a wonderful author. I heartily congratulate him for his great talent. I look forward to the release and thus complete the Shiva Trilogy story.

I would like to know how many of you have read the book and how did you find it?

I read about the book here: http://theexperimentoflife.blogspot.com/2013/01/s
and out of curiosity, I stumbled upon your blog. I really think I should give it a read now though. However, I'm afraid it might spoil the movie… you know.. having too many expectations based on my own imagination. (like what happened with Harry Potter)

True. Maybe we should not be expecting much from the movie itself. But if the movie is well made and reflects all that is in the book. It will just be wonderful. Maybe Amish himself will be a great help in the making of this movie. ;)

As did J.K.Rowling. But the movie editors/director mutilated the story line nonetheless. :/
